Workshop: DETERMINING PROPERTY CORNER HISTORY & ASSESSING AND COMMUNICATING BOUNDARY SURVEY RISK

Landon Blake has been surveying in Central California and Western Nevada for over 15 years. He specializes in surveying to support the design and maintenance of large infrastructure projects.

The first part of the workshop is entitled "Determining Property Corner History". In this first part of the workshop you will learn how to determine property corner history as part of a boundary survey. This includes a discussion of the differences between original monuments and retracement monuments, learning how to evaluate different types of corner location evidence, and how to handle gaps in property corner history. The second part of the workshop is entitled "Assessing and Communicating Risk in Boundary Surveys". In this second part of the workshop you will learn about the 3 types of risk in a boundary survey, the 9 sources of this risk, and factors that accelerate this risk. You'll also find out about methods to quantify risk in your boundary surveys and ways to communicate this risk to your clients.
